We spent Sunday evening at one of our favourite London bars, Casita, where we joined friends and locals who had come to celebrate its third birthday. There was no big fanfare, no special DJ and no special cocktail list, and the night was all the better for it.
If you’ve been to Casita in East London you’ll already know that the best night there is a typical Casita night: one where you bump into old friends enjoying a Sagres, meet new people who’ve come for Casita’s Hispanic inspired list of classic and signature cocktails or catch up with bar industry colleagues and bartenders who love Casita’s warm welcome.
It’s a tiny bar, by far the smallest we’ve ever been to, but don’t let that stop you from visiting. Casita means ‘little house’ and Will Foster, the owner, has created quite a home from home, where friends and strangers are welcomed equally. Sit at the small bar and enjoy the unpretentious atmosphere and marvel at the eclectic décor, assembled from postcards and gifts that people have sent from Latino locations, while Will or Oskar mix you one of their house cocktails.
Drinks are well made and range from the established Hispanic classics such as Daquiris, Margaritas Caipirinhas and of course mojitos, but we strongly recommend you try one or two of their signature cocktails, such as the Kizmet a refreshing drink featuring fresh kiwi and vanilla vodka or an Oriental which showcases Beefeater gin balanced against lychee and grapefruit. For something with a little more kick ask for their famous Tequila Verdita, you’ll love it!
Usually we’d list a couple of Casita’s signature cocktails here but actually we’d rather you dropped in and experienced Casita first hand, so get yourself over to Shoreditch and raise a glass to three years of Casita.
