Second best is just first of the worst!

‘I’m never going to drink again’ these words may never have been uttered by so many as they will have been this morning! After a week long celebration of London’s amazing cocktail heritage, last night saw London Cocktail Week draw to a close at the CLASS awards held in Shoreditch Town Hall. The great and the good of the drinks industry gathered to drink a few last cocktails (some of which were highly suspect and tasted a bit too much like thinly disguised sambucca!) and hear who was to be crowned the best in the ten categories being contested.

So without further pause here are the big winners on the night! Congratulations to all who were nominated, but especially to those lucky enough to win in what were all tight races.

Best new bar – 69 Colebrooke Row
Best new product – Calle 23 tequila
Best hotel bar – The Merchant
Best UK brand ambassador – Phil Huckle
Best classic bar – Bramble
Best drinks writer – Jared Brown and Anistatia Miller
Best bar manager – Jon Cowley of Red Hook
Gregor De Gruyther’s Good Times Bar – Keko Moku
Best bartender – Joey Medrington

All were worthy winners and as soon as London Detox Week is over we’ll raise a glass in their honour!
